This is a ceremonial dress sidearm from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, most likely attributed to the Austro-Hungarian Air Service or military ceremonial branch officers. The hilt is richly adorned with a brass crossguard and pommel, with engraved scrollwork and a royal monogram plaque (likely representing Emperor Franz Joseph I or Karl I depending on interpretation). The blade is a narrow spear-point type, showing signs of bluing near the ricasso and bearing an Austrian arsenal or maker’s mark.A silver-threaded portepee (sword knot) and the inclusion of a fitted leather scabbard with brass chape further point to high-ranking dress issue. The condition appears excellent, with original fittings intact.
