An original set of German WWI officer-issued field glasses (binoculars), manufactured by Salzman — one of several contracted optical firms producing high-quality equipment for the Imperial German Army during the Great War. These binoculars feature a rugged black-painted brass body with textured grip finish and a central focusing wheel. The lenses remain intact, and the original leather neck strap and protective case are present.The brown leather case is a correct WWI pattern with belt loops, brass hardware, and steel latch. Such cases were issued to officers and artillery observers, and were designed to securely protect field optics under trench and field conditions.These binoculars would have been used for trench observation, artillery fire correction, and reconnaissance by junior and senior officers across all branches, including infantry, artillery, and cavalry.
