An original Parker’s Wind Gauge Sight Protector, manufactured by Parker-Hale Ltd., Birmingham, one of Britain’s foremost suppliers of precision rifle accessories. Constructed from blued steel, this hinged protector was designed to fit over the rear sight of the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) rifle, protecting the sight leaf and wind gauge mechanism during field use and transport. The model includes the engraved legend “PARKER’S WIND GAUGE SIGHT PROTECTOR” to the front plate and retains its original hinged closure. This type was issued to British marksmen and armourers during the early 20th century and was also favoured by civilian rifle clubs and colonial units for competitive and service shooting.
