An original Parker-Hale List No.138A Foresight Element Holder, commonly referred to as the “Parker’s Tube Sight” or Foresight Shade. Manufactured in Birmingham, England, by the renowned Parker-Hale Ltd, this all-metal precision-made accessory was designed for use on target rifles and converted service rifles such as the SMLE Mk III (Short Magazine Lee-Enfield) and later No.4 Mk I (T and Mk II variants) during the interwar and post-war target shooting period.Machined from nickel-plated brass or aluminium alloy, this component features a dual-tube configuration with the distinctive Parker-Hale maker’s mark and inscription: “PARKER LIST NO.138A” and the Parker-Hale trademark “PH” monogram. The device acted as a foresight tunnel to accept interchangeable foresight elements — commonly ring or post types — improving precision shooting by reducing glare and enhancing sight definition. The design also allowed easy field replacement of sight inserts, catering to varied light conditions and target sizes. This model was part of Parker-Hale’s early commercial and NRA competition catalogue, developed between the 1930s and 1950s, and was often paired with Parker-Hale’s rear aperture sights such as the PH5A, PH5B, and PH5C.
