An exceptional cast brass Prussian eagle finial, dating between 1803 and 1871, representing the heraldic eagle emblem of the Kingdom of Prussia. This finial, likely mounted atop a military standard, ceremonial staff, or regimental flagpole, displays the imperial eagle in full relief with finely detailed plumage and defined talons. The eagle is shown with wings partially spread, head turned to the right (heraldically left), embodying the authority and martial prestige of the Prussian state. The reverse exhibits classic foundry casting traits consistent with early to mid-19th-century production, with a hollow-back construction and traces of early gilt or brass polishing. Finials of this type adorned Prussian regimental colours, artillery limbers, and occasionally guardroom trophies, serving both symbolic and decorative roles within military and state institutions. The dating aligns with the Frederick William III (1803–1840) and Wilhelm I (1861–1871) reigns, encompassing Prussia’s major military and political consolidation leading up to German unification.
