This is an original Austrian M1867 Wendl bayonet, later arsenal-shortened during service life for continued use with updated Werndl rifles and carbines.The bayonet carries clear Austro-Hungarian acceptance and inspection markings, including:“GF” (Government Factory / inspector marking) Double-headed imperial eagle (Austro-Hungarian proof) Striberny circular maker’s mark on the reverse Regimental marking on the hooked quillon, indicating active line-unit service The classic hooked quillon and ribbed leather grips remain intact, with the grips unusually crisp for a 19th-century example.The blade retains a polished finish with no major pitting, and the original steel scabbard accompanies the piece, making it a desirable, complete set.This is a strong collector example of an increasingly scarce Austro-Hungarian bayonet variant, especially in this condition.
