A fine example of the scarce 1855 Pattern Lancaster Carbine Bayonet, issued to the Royal Sappers and Miners for use with the two-groove Lancaster carbine. This bayonet features the distinctive solid brass hilt, curved quillon, and deeply ribbed leather grips, characteristic of the pattern. The blade retains its original profile with minor age-related blemishing but remains polished and well preserved. The maker’s mark is present but now illegible due to wear. Included is the original black leather scabbard with brass locket and chape—rare to still be intact and fitting properly. Overall, this is a crisp and very desirable early Victorian engineering corps bayonet.
