An original Parker’s “Short MLE” (Magazine Lee-Enfield) sight protector, designed and produced by Parker-Hale Ltd., Birmingham, for the British Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) rifle. The protector is constructed of nickel-plated brass with a hinged front cover designed to shield the delicate rear sight leaf from damage during transport or field operations. It features the manufacturer’s marking “PARKER’S SHORT MLE SIGHT PROTECTOR” stamped clearly on the face.These protectors were a vital accessory for the British Army and marksmen between the Edwardian period and WWI, later continuing in civilian and competition shooting contexts.
