An original Parker’s L.R.S.B. (Long Range Small Bore) Sight Protector, designed and manufactured by Parker-Hale Ltd., Birmingham, during the mid-20th century. This example is constructed from nickel-plated brass and features the clearly stamped inscription “PARKER’S L.R.S.B. SIGHT PROTECTOR” on the outer face of the hinged cover. The protector was used to shield the micrometer or aperture sight assemblies on precision target and training rifles — particularly Parker-Hale converted Lee-Enfields, BSA small-bore rifles, and No.8 .22 training rifles used by the British military and cadet forces. Its interior cradle securely fits over the rear sight to prevent mechanical damage or displacement during transport or storage. These sight protectors were commonly issued to marksmanship schools, National Rifle Association (NRA) competitions, and military rifle clubs, continuing Britain’s interwar and post-war tradition of precision rifle shooting. The craftsmanship and fine plating indicate commercial/military dual use — a hallmark of Parker-Hale’s production, balancing rugged field durability with the precision standards required by professional marksmen.
