Gilt and enamel shield-shaped shoulder flash featuring a white parachute canopy with the numeral “1” above a descending eagle over green field, bordered in black and gold. This is a South African Army 1 Parachute Battalion (1 Para Bn) metal shoulder title/flash.This is not a cloth shoulder flash, but rather the later metal and enamel dress badge variant, typically worn on ceremonial or service dress. The design corresponds directly to 1 Parachute Battalion insignia, established in 1961 and active throughout the Border War era.The green field, parachute with numeral “1”, and eagle motif are definitive identifiers of 1 Para Bn. Manufacture style and enamel finish are consistent with 1970s–1990s SADF production.
