An original South African “Soldier 2000” pattern patrol battle vest, introduced in the mid-to-late 1990s to equip the newly formed SANDF (South African National Defence Force) after the transition from the SADF. Constructed from tough camouflage fabric in the distinctive Soldier 2000 pattern, this vest is fitted with an array of integral pouches including:
4 × large magazine pouches,
2 × side utility pouches,
2 × grenade pouches,
Rear field/utility compartment,
Padded shoulder straps with quick-release buckles,
Drag handle and adjustable harness system.
This design replaced the earlier SADF Pattern 83 webbing, offering a modernised all-in-one load-bearing system with improved ergonomics and storage for peacekeeping and operational deployments. This particular example bears the service marking “C-058” to the chest panel, indicating unit allocation.
