South African leather Mauser cartridge belt featuring eight squared 5-round pouches (40-round capacity) designed for 7x57mm Mauser stripper clips. Double-pin brass buckle. Gap between pouch groupings for auxiliary bandolier attachment. Reported U-with-arrow Union Defence Force marking present. Leather remains soft, intact and structurally sound with very good preservation for age. Early 20th century South African military cartridge belt derived from Boer War Mauser equipment patterns.
