Original South African leather bayonet frog manufactured by Gawer in 1998 for the distinctive South African Butcher Blade Bayonet. Constructed from heavy black leather with reinforced stitching and steel rivets, the frog is designed to secure the bayonet scabbard to the Pattern 83 webbing system or a standard military belt. The elongated throat, integral belt loop and reinforced scabbard pocket are characteristic of late South African military production. Frogs of this type were issued with the Gawer-produced butcher blade bayonets used by the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) during the post-apartheid transition period.
