Original British Pattern 1888 buff leather bayonet frog, manufactured for carrying the Pattern 1888 Lee-Metford/Lee-Enfield bayonet on the Slade-Wallace equipment. Constructed from heavy buff leather with copper-alloy rivets, stitched construction, and the characteristic retaining strap with brass buckle, this example has naturally aged to a light tan colour through service and wear. The rear displays a faint British military acceptance stamp, consistent with late Victorian military leather equipment. Frogs of this pattern accompanied the Pattern 1888 bayonet throughout the late Victorian period and into the early years of the twentieth century.
