Brown leather bayonet frog of British Pattern 1888 lineage, with heavy stitched and riveted construction and retaining strap with brass buckle. The reverse appears to carry an SAP ownership stamp, consistent with South African Police issue/reuse. The substantial age, wear and patination suggest genuine service use. This is a bayonet frog rather than a .303 ammunition item; it was designed to suspend a bayonet/scabbard from the belt.
