A rare South African–issued FN FAL Type B bayonet, featuring a parkerised steel blade with fullered design, fitted with a steel muzzle ring and pommel release catch. The example is clearly stamped with the SAP marking, identifying issue to the South African Police, a force that utilised the FAL (locally designated the R1) from the 1960s through the Border War era. Accompanied by its correct black steel scabbard and a later brown leather frog. The Type B differs from earlier A-types in having a more robust muzzle ring and simplified grips, making it a recognised collector’s pattern for both FN and R1 variants.
